One of the first sustainable flooring materials, cork flooring continues to be a popular choice for homeowners using environmentally friendly materials to upgrade their home.
As a natural insulator, cork flooring helps to regulate in-home temperatures during both the summer and winter months to help reduce energy bills and increase family comfort. Cork is also known to be a noise reducing material that absorbs footsteps throughout, another benefit of installing cork floors in your home.
Homeowners enjoy cork’s longevity and aesthetic integrity; the material is able to be sanded and polished multiple times to treat scratches and wearing that occurs due to normal wear and tear. The material is stripped from the outer bark of the tree leaving the tree intact.
Cork flooring is available in two types of tiles, traditional raw tiles and pre-finished floating tiles. Traditional tiles are sized at approximately 305x305x6mm, while pre-finished floating tiles are much larger, and sized at 900x298x11mm.
Conveniently, cork flooring can be installed over any existing flooring type, including hardwood flooring, particle board, plywood, and more.
