Floating timber floors, otherwise known as engineered floors, are timber boards that have not been nailed into the layer lying directly beneath the new surface. Perfect for placement over tile, carpet, and concrete flooring, floating floorboards offer the coziness of traditional hardwood without the hassle of a full nail-in installation.
Floating timber comes pre-finished and is easily installed without hardware; therefore, it is arguably one of the most efficient flooring upgrade options available. The traditional width of floating timber is set at 14mm, and each plank is composed of three different layers to build the final product.
At the uppermost section of the planks, a 4mm timber veneer is used as an aesthetic and protective encasement. The middle of each plank is composed of various hardwood species to suit different tastes; lastly, the bottom layer uses plantation timber plywood as a base.
Because the product is pre-finished, it allows for quick and easy installation as nails, sanding or polishing are not necessary.
