Top Flooring Trends for 2019

If a new floor is top of your 2019 to-do list, we’re here to help. Finding a new floor can be a daunting process with so many styles, materials and colours to choose from. To narrow it down, we’ve compiled a list of 5 trends that are set to flourish next year and we want to let you in on the secret:

  1. Wood-replicas

Though hardwood continues to be a popular flooring choice, other materials that resemble wooden floors are also a climbing trend. For years, many people have opted for wood-look floors thanks to advances in technology that can replicate the features and characteristics of timber. It is a hot trend that shows no signs of stopping.

  1. Artistic layouts

2019 is all about ditching the conventional and getting creative with planks. Rather than choosing regular sized boards, mix it up with varying widths to create a natural look. Or, try installing wide planks to really bring out the woody grains and knots. Another trend is to lay planks in patterns, such as Chevron, Herringbone or Diagonal.

  1. Eco-friendly

Again, this is not a new trend and has been increasing in popularity for a while now. With environmental concerns becoming a widespread topic, many homeowners are keen to install floors with a sustainable label. At Floormania, we stock bamboo and cork, both of which are environmentally friendly and renewable materials.

  1. Waterproof

In the past, most flooring materials were susceptible to water damage in some way but that is no longer the case. Take vinyl for example – in most cases, vinyl is 100% waterproof making it an excellent choice for wet areas. Plus, it now has the look of natural timber meaning it is also visually appealing to the eye.

Our Quick-Step Impressive Ultra laminate range is also able to repel water, due to the unique coating that seals the boards against surface water.

  1. Textured

While smooth and shiny floors retain a traditional, classic feel, 2019 is all about adding new dimensions with textured floors. A hand scraped or distressed floor mirrors the texture of natural timber, adding character and personality to synthetic floors like laminate.
